I didn’t plan for this thing to become a series of posts, but here we are, at the second installment of how I do Lenormand 🙂 Maybe I’ll eventually cover the whole deck, but so far I only have a few more ideas, so we’ll see.
1 – The Rider
This card is all about movement, either it’s a person that’s on the move, or something else happening quickly. It can mean travel, but usually a relatively short distance – sometimes so short you can go by foot. Also actually horseback riding.
3 – The Ship
This is also moving, but over greater distances, and usually in a vehicle of some sort, either a car, a plane, train or an actual ship. It can mean going (far) away, as opposed to the Rider, who is approaching. If you’re moving to another country to live, this is the card you’re looking for.
17 – The Stork
The Stork is a migratory bird, so even if it goes away, you know it’s going to come back at some point. Same with this card. It’s about moving and relocating, but it’s not necessarily a permanent thing. It can be change as well, most likely cyclical.
(Fun fact: the stork is the reason people first discovered that birds migrate. They used to think that the birds just vanished somewhere during the winter, until a European stork appeared in Germany one spring with an African arrow stuck in it. The stork was apparently fine, it had flown across the Mediterranean with an arrow through its neck. That is, it was fine until til someone killed it and stuffed it. It’s in a museum now. This has apparently happened often enough that there’s a name for it…)
